A rubric to answer open ended math questions on standardized tests

Work together to find all four types of angles in the classroom and identify the location and objects used. Students will record information to present to the class along with classification of each type of angle and their measurements.

Students will write creatively to explain basic math concepts.

Classroom Manipulatives

This is a project in which your team will choreograph and perform a dance to help teach a mathematical concept. Your team will choose a song from a list of choices of songs that are used to teach a mathematical concept. You will research the mathematical concept to be sure you are solid on mastering the concept itself, to then be able to teach others. Then you will choose dance moves that will help students remember those concepts.

Students will have a choice of maniplatives to use during math.

Decimal multiplication and division lesson assessment based on understanding of the concept of decimals and percents including conversion.

The student will design a poster to advertise assigned product. The poster will have the name of the product, the price, a picture, and the four ways to make 10 cents.

What kind of cupcake do you want to eat? Are you going to be happy with a burnt cupcake? Maybe your okay with having just a plain unfrosted cupcake? What about a cupcake with frosting? Or...do you want that awesome looking cupcake with the frosting piled high and sprinkles on the top?

Cut out 8 numbers from magazines or newspapers following the rule. Find 2 of each: 2-digit, 3-digit, 4 -digit, 5-digit. Round the numbers to the largest digit, and glue on a number line.

The student will write an addition or a subtraction situation/story probem. The student will show his/her thinking using words, numbers, and pictures. Students will record solution strategies clearly.
