A 7 step model for designing for a hypothetical GMO.

Total of 30 points.

Design their own arthropod to present during their oral presentation. The arthropod must be modeled after one of the following: crustacean, spider, insect, centipede or millipede. The students will need to draw a diagram of their arthropod and label it completely. The students will complete an Arthropod Activity Report looking at the different characteristics of an arthropod including their mode of reproduction. Finally an oral presentation will be done which must be aligned with the model.

Students are to chose a topic, field, discovery, person, etc in science that is of particular interest to them. They are to become experts on the topic and create a project expressing what they have learned. Students can create Animotos, Commercials, Books, Posters, Etc. Presentations of the project to the class will be a separate grade.

Students will put together a presentation on their organism of choice and how it has will be affected by evolution. Presentation software is required. 4 minutes per person.

Research an approved topic. Submit one 2-3 page typed paper, double spaced, 12 point font following APA guidelines. Include a References page with at least 5 resources used researching the paper. You are encouraged to interject your personal opinion into this paper. Paper will be graded on quality of research to support the thesis statement and topic, effective use of information gained through research, credibility of sources, content, grammar and mechanics, and APA formatting.
