You are to create a cruise brochure based on Odysseus’ travels. This brochure should be colorful and creative and written to entice travelers to spend their money on this cruise.

Students will create a board game about the epic poem The Odyssey, the object of which is to follow Odysseus on his journey from Troy to Ithaca.

We have explored and discussed creation myths...now it is your turn to create your own in the likeness of the Native Americans! TASK: You will create a myth that explains a natural phenomenon such as the reason behind a volcano's eruption, earthquake, echoes, rainbows, droughts, hail etc. As you brainstorm what to write, it is important to remember that Native Americans created their stories with a purpose. Everything they created had a reason. The main purpose of mythology was to explain the way their world worked or to help them understand mysteries of nature or human life. Your story should not only have beautiful language (personification, simile, metaphor, symbolism etc) but should also serve a function (explain something in nature). SPECIFICS: Your final product needs to be typed, double-spaced and be 2 pages in length. YOU MUST include ONE colorful illustration that depicts a scene from your myth.

Students will put the character Abigail on trial for perjury as a mock trial activity based on Arthur Miller's play, "The Crucible."

Think about the Romeo & Juliet script we just read. Consider the story from the viewpoint of either Romeo or Juliet. Write a love letter to the other character. You must demonstrate an understanding of the plot. Your letter must be one full page in length. Sign your character's name at the end.
