Simple Rhythm Composition
Create a rhythm that is 4 measures long using assigned notes and rests.

Brass Station Activity
Objective: Students will describe the characteristics of the four main brass instruments through a station activity. Directions for each station: 1. Write down the instrument featured for the station. 2. Have one member read the passage about the instrument aloud. 3. As a group, discuss the reading and answer the questions on your sheet. Each person should individually write their responses on their own paper. 4. Look at the instrument. Touch the instrument carefully. Do NOT actually put your mouth on the mouthpiece! 5. Write down any comments or questions you have. 6. Repeat steps 1-5 for the next 3 stations. 7. Self assess on the rubric below and complete your habits of daily learning checklist. In the comments section of the rubric: Describe how did your group worked together.

Name That Tune with Boomwhackers
Directions: Write the letter names of all of the pitches below. In your group, perform each of the melodies using the boomwhackers. Identify the tune and write the name of the song on the line above the melody. There is a song bank and pitch diagram at the bottom of the page to help you. After you have identified all of the tunes, choose one tune to practice and be ready to share out. Remember all of the boomwhacker dos and don’ts. You will be assessed with the following rubric.
