Value Composition in Graphite and/or Color Pencils Composition demonstrates students ability to create an Illusion of volume/form using the element of Art:Value/ principle of composition. Composition uses all shapes/forms studied that overlap; value is added to the contour drawing using one or more of the methods taught in class (value scale only)Composition shows at least 3-4 values of shading and includes the 5 Principles of Shading: highlight, shade, shadow, reflected light and backshading.

Students will create a line drawing from samples images and using different values will give the line drawing form.

Students will complete a series of contour line exercises.

This rubric will be used to assess correct proportions, using contour line drawing techniques in perspective, value and texture within a drawing
