Grade 5 Art: Water Colour Scene Painting

Students will create a composition from lines and shapes. Students will demonstrate use of water colour paint and material care. Students will use the elements of color, line and shape

Op Art-Short for Optical Illusions is art that confuses the eye.

Using one of Van Gogh's masterpieces (Starry Night, Sunflowers, The Bedroom, or Self Portrait), students will recreate one of his works. While recreating their art piece they will still be using the personal style of Van Gogh.

A rubric that properly evaluates the artistic process of using pencils / colored pencils as an artistic medium. It measures the various phases and approaches that are necessary in the assessment of a project or a work of art.

Student demonstrated understanding of how value creates shapes, and the drawing techniques (hatching/cross hatching/etc.) are used to create value. This is an assignment to teach the student the power of shading values, by drawing two dimensional shapes into three dimensional shaded forms.
