The student will use the three steps of the writing process to effectivey develop a three-paragraph essay.

Assessment of elementary level writing

The students had to create a flow map of summary using story elements. The first box has to include the main character and his/her desire. The second box must include some desire of the main character. The second box must include the problem the character encounters. The third box must include the attempts to solve the problem. The fourth box must be the solution to the problem, and there must be a paragraph that accurately summarizes the story with all of the above elements.

Reading: I can summarize fictional texts that represent cultures in different regions. I can summarize central ideas and important details from fables or myths.

Identify the story elements.

The learner will provide the main characters, the setting, and give a written and oral description of the key points of the beginning, middle, and end of a story by completing a story map.

Make a bar graph using the information gathered from the students.

Make a bar graph of the animals that Jake saw in his nature hike. Students should be able to label their graphs properly and accordingly.

Students will be able to demonstrate and understanding of inferencing by using context clues, plus background knowledge to infer.

Student works in different activities that involve time clocks. Desired skills include: Telling time by the minute Telling time to the whole / half / quarter hour Determining elapsed time to the whole / half / quarter hour

This rubric will assess a student's ability to write an original math word problem for a partner to solve and solve a problem given to them by their partner. Students are also assessed on their ability to explain in writing their strategy used to solve the problem.
