Assessment for Soprano Recorder class

An understanding of basic music theory in regard to notes, note names, rhythms, key signature, time signatures and scales. The student must have a full understanding of the building blocks of theory before moving to the next grade level of instrumental music education.

Students will examine simple song lyrics and identify the perspective and/or opinions presented by the artist. What is the meaning of the song? Can the student interpret the main idea / belief being put across.

Create a performance piece that includes rhythm, improv, drama and movement similar to the performance group, Stomp.

Record a song playing a midi-keyboard and using GarageBand application Select a loop from GarageBand collection and adjust the length of the project that there is an introduction, a middle part and the end.

The students will be graded on their collaborative skills within the group. Each member has an assigned role and task to work on and bring into the group as a whole.
