Students will be selecting an animal and research the unique characteristics about this animal. Students will be writing about their animal, and design a presentation to aid them when sharing the traits of their animal. The presentation should tell about where their animal lives, what their animal eats, what their animal looks like, and other interesting facts about the animal they choose. Students should be prepared to answer questions about their animal from their peers.

Students will compare and contrast characters from the books, Because of Winn-Dixie and Frindle. This four paragraph piece should include and introduction, a comparison paragraph with at least 4 examples, a contrast paragraph with at least 4 examples, and a concluding paragraph.

Students will write a fictional story giving examples of creative writing through different types of writers craft as well as routing conventions and writing practices.

Students will create a compound word from known words. Students will use a compound word in a sentence. Students will illustrate and depict their use of a compound word.
