Upon completion of in-class practice of identifying and writing short stories that contain the main parts of a story, the learner will be able to effectively write and identify what components make up a story through descriptive details.

The students worked in groups to complete this activity. They were given magazines and were told to find a picure that represented a solid, liquid or gas. They then had to place the picture in the correct category on the types of matter chart.

The students will work on their own to put together a poster for display. The poster will contain relevant information directly related to the topic selected by the student. The poster should have areas segmented that directly reflect the outline created by the student. The poster will be designed on either poster board (full-sized poster board) or tri fold poster board. The student is required to explain their poster to the class and teacher

Task: Students make a dichotomous key of monsters. The rubric is designed for peer evaluation

Design a mobile to tell your class about the qualities needed to build a strong relationship (found on p.358). Choose four qualities to depict on your moblie. You may use magazine photos or draw your pictures. Title your mobile. All items should be attached to a hanger. Mobiles should be neat and colorful. Be prepared to explain your mobile to the teacher or classmates.

Students are to model their ecosystem. The model should include appropriate living and non-living organisms present.

Using your personal experiences, you will create a timeline of your life. You must include 5 personal events and 5 historical events. You will use several illustrations or photos to help identify these special events. Your timeline must be organized, neat and accurate. YOU MUST HAVE THIS RUBRIC WITH YOU WHEN YOU PRESENT YOUR TIMELINE.
