Students will create a miniature ecosystem that must contain all of the major elements of an ecosystem, including: habitat, plants, water source, decomposers, producers, and consumers. 4 rubric Current Events (Final Written Project)       popup preview  
Purpose: Students will inform the audience about how a current event topic has affected, or is affecting the world today. Students will write a 3 (typed) to 5 (hand written) page report telling the reader about the background/history of their topic, how it relates to current events (affects us today), and why this topic interests them/their opinion or feelings on the topic. All sources are to be listed using MLA formatting.

Students will present a 1-2 page, typed paper describing the function, main organs and major diseases associated with an organ system. Students will describe how this system interacts with other organ systems. Each group will also give an oral presentation, providing a working model of their given system. The model should be creatively displayed and all major parts of the system mentioned in the written portion must be labeled and present in the working model.

Your final project for our first novel discussion is to create a video review for "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone". Your video should be short, only 3-5 minutes long, and include a summary of the plot (including major characters, and teasers of events (don't give away too much)), and your opinion of the book (did you like it and was it well written, with LOTS OF EXAMPLES and evidence!). This project is worth 45 points, and is due Wed., Sept. 30.

Students will create a projects, using the medium of their choice, that shows the planets (including our moon), Sun, and Asteroid Belt/Oort Cloud/Kuiper Belt. Information should be accurate and any items used, in proportion. Students should tell about each provided object's size, distance to the Sun, and include at least 2 cool facts about each. Projects should be ready to present to the class by Thursday, September 17. This project is work 45 points.
