Create a character sketch for one of the main characters in the novel. Choose a character you connect with and remember that even though some descriptions will be short, you can look beyond the words on the page to see what the author is telling you about each character.

Create a word cloud demonstrating subject knowledge highlighting most important aspect as prominent sentence.

Students in a fifth grade class will develop a new character that they believe would fit into the Harry Potter series. Students will create a “bio” on their character using an online concept map listing at least five details about their character, write a short story incorporating/introducing the character into the books using Microsoft Word, and will “draw” a picture of their chosen character, either by hand, or verbally, using descriptive words. On the final day, students will do a 5-8 minute presentation to the class. Each student will introduce the class to their character, read/summarize their short story, and tell us how they were inspired to create this character.
