The students will put together a poster to show during their oral presentation. The poster will display what they want their American life to be and may contrast with what it is. The student will present briefly about their poster.

2 rubric Speech to Inform-Oral Presentation       popup preview  
Students will research, plan, and compose an informative speech in which their performance will be evaluated in terms of specific standards, including the clarity and completeness of your speech and the quality of your presentation in explaining your topic matter. Non-verbal communication is highlighted. Students will have 3 to 4 minutes to deliver the speech. Any over that time will result in points being deducted.

After being exposed to many different forms of poetry, and understanding the power of words, students will create a poster or project including 5 songs and 2 poems they can relate to. They will arrange them neatly and explain each song and what it means to them.

Writing will be graded on capitalization, punctuation, use of main idea and supporting details, spelling, grammar usage, and figurative language such as with similes and allusions. Also the writing may include metaphors.
