The student will create an Civil War ABC fact book by writing about and illustrating a Civil War fact for each letter of the alphabet.

Students will complete a journal from that Tom Sawyer's point of view. Include things like: Why does the character act that way? What is making them do this? What problems are in the foreseeable future? Stay in character and write whatever comes to mind.

Summer Reading Assignment: Students had to keep a literary response journal of 2 journal entries per chapter. Students had a choice of 20 response questions/scenarios.
