Students will create a body part in motion sculpture using wire and plaster utilizing balance, movement and organic form into their composition.

Students develop a series of drawings that they develop into a drypoint plate. Students print a variable edition of 3 prints. The prints are presented in a critique format at the end of the project.

Students will select a photograph with strong contrast between light and dark values/shades. They can edit or crop the photo if desired. The photos and drawing paper are set up with corresponding grids. After drawing the portrait in pencil, students use pens and markers to build form through value and stippling. They should strive to include a variety of value, textures, and detail.

Students will select a photograph with strong contrast between light and dark values/shades. They will photoedit the image on iPads to improve the photograph. Students will place thin tracing paper over the photo and stipple (apply tiny dots with marker or pencil) to create tones that will change over the areas of light, medium and dark tones and highlights. Students will photocopy finished stipple drawing (optional: add additional details for extra credit) and complete self-evaluation.
