Landscape Collage
A landcape collage using various pieces of paper from magazines and/or newspapers.

Stipple Value Drawing
Students will select a photograph with strong contrast between light and dark values/shades. They will photoedit the image on iPads to improve the photograph. Students will place thin tracing paper over the photo and stipple (apply tiny dots with marker or pencil) to create tones that will change over the areas of light, medium and dark tones and highlights. Students will photocopy finished stipple drawing (optional: add additional details for extra credit) and complete self-evaluation.

Disco Ball Art Rubric
Students will create two disco balls using any medium they like. Color must be added to each disco ball and the background. A nice range of values must be present in each disco ball. Careful attention to detail must be placed on each disco ball square to make sure that the proportions are correct and to capture the full range of values so that the artwork will look realistic. Picture references and video tutorials along with teacher led instruction will be provided to assist all students.

Women's History & Equality Poster
Objective: Create a poster digitally or on 18"x24" drawing paper that uses a combination of words and imagery or no words at all to convey a powerful message about Women's History and/or equality. The message needs to either address a problem or offer a solution. Any media can be used; oil, acrylic, graphite, collage, found objects, digital software (Adobe Photoshop), etc.

Movie Poster/Trailer
Create an original movie poster or movie trailer art based on either an existing film or one that you make up entirely. You must choose a genre, title, tagline, and movie poster credits must be added to the poster. Standard tied to this rubric: Interpret intent and meaning in artistic work. Identify specific elements in a work that connect it to a specific genre or style. (F.V.R.08)

Photo Restoration with PS
Use Photoshop to correct damaged photos to give the appearance that nothing was wrong with the photo in the first place. Students will use the Photoshop skills which they have learned so far to create an image that is free from blemishes, i.e. discoloration, scratches, burns, tears, watermarks, etc. The primary goal is to make the image appear flawless. Reference images are included although students may choose their own photos to repair, pending teacher approval.

Split-Faced Self/Celebrity -Portrait
Students will draw half a "realistic or impressionistic" self-portrait or half a "realistic or impressionistic" celebrity portrait by using a photographic reference image. The image will be split vertically with one half adhered to a paper surface and the other to be used as a visual reference.
