This rubric is for grading a Grade 12 English assignment designed to prepare students for university level research and argumentative essays. Students learned how to use a Reference Manager (Zotero) and the JSTOR database to search for academic articles. NOTE: Although this is an English assignment, students were asked to use APA format since they already knew MLA and most would require APA in university.

This rubric is how the Critique assignment will be evaluated. Value: 10 points

Written presentation of case study

Practical elements and applications of the guiding principles behind the composition of music in the Euro-American tradition. Areas of study include: notation, intervals, diatonic chords, seventh chords, functional harmony, cadences, secondary dominants, voice leading, higher extension chords, form, stylistic elements, ear training, harmonic analysis. Assignments will include mastery level exercises for basic knowledge, writing compositions of various lengths and styles, analysis of provided music, ongoing ear training using computer program and in-class exercises

Online discussion assignments are worth 2 possible total points with 10 discussions due.

Organize information from brainstorming ideas for an assigned topic into a cluster diagram then prepare an outline following the alphanumeric format. Present this assignment to the class.

Used for timed tests to assess various music theory elements

Students will assess themselves/partners on their dictation skills. A portion of music will be played and students will dictate the rhythm. Then the dictation will be graded using this rubric. Follows standard MHSBP.3c Reading and Notating Music through a dictation method.
