Students are instructed in a variety of traditional and digital art development and illustration techniques, utilizing the Elements of Design. They receive a variety of options in topics and develop a finished work of art for each unit. Students are continually consulted with, assisted and supported in their process, and are assessed for their investment in, and consequent final development of, their individualized work of Art.

This assessment will be used to evaluate high school art students who are currently enrolled in AP Studio Studio Art.

Silk Screen Rubric with Reflection

Reinvent a toy that could be used by a child that is also safe, durable, and attractive.

This rubric evaluates the artistic process and researched information for an Impressionistic acrylic painting. It measures the various phases, research applications, and approaches necessary for style interpretation into the assessment of an acrylic painting project.

Students will work plein air behind the art room to create a landscape composition, using different techniques with chalk pastels.

Using a digital photo of your self, grid the photo in a one inch grid. Then create a two inch grid on your illustration board to transfer your drawing to. After transferring your drawing using the grid, use two different mediums and color/shade your drawing. You will be graded on if you incorporate your own personal artistic style, use composition and design, craftsmanship, and effort. Note: This year (2018), due to time constraints, students did a 1:1 ratio.

Students work from landscapes and natural images to create a suite of monotypes. Students print a collection of 5 related prints. The prints are presented in a critique format at the end of the project.

As part of a unit on the elements of art, students will draw charcoal still life to demonstrate their knowledge of space and form.

After studying Christo and Jean-Claude, students will draw charcoal still life to demonstrate their knowledge of space, value, and form.
