Composition uses all shapes/forms studied that overlap; value is added to the contour drawing using one or more of the methods taught in class (value scale only)Composition shows at least 3-4 values of shading and includes the 5 Principles of Shading: highlight, shade, shadow, reflected light and backshading.

After a review of the color wheel by the teacher, the student will create an organic shaped color wheel on paper. The student will correctly mix and paint the correct colors on the color wheel in the correct position. The student will create the tint, tone and shade of each color as well.

Look through Picasso's work and read about his style. Examine his self-portrait and how he used shapes and lines to define his most prominent features. Take a picture of your self and trace it onto white paper. Use this as a draft and create your own Picasso inspired self portrait. Finish your project with chalk and clear spray paint. Write an artist's statement about your work that explains your process, color choice, defined shapes and feature and reflects on your opinion on Picasso's style. All written work must be in Spanish and rubric must be turned in with project. This is due 12/14/12
