Write a summary about a piece of writing you read. Include WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN, and Why. The summary should include at least one paragraph. Your summary should be neatly written. You should have an introductory sentence that states the topic of the summary. You should use transition words to help with the flow of the paragraph. Make sure your name and the date are on your summary. Proofread and edit your summary.

Students will independently read a fiction novel and create a book report using a cereal box. The box must be covered and decorated with details from the book. The cereal box must also feature a prize that is based on the story.

Create a board game that reflects aspects of the entire novel. Questions that show insight will earn higher marks than those that are simply recall questions. Your board game can be based on one that is already in existence such as Monopoly or Trivial Pursuit. The final project should include connections between the novel and other real world or fictional experiences, luminated plot points that show the plot progression, a list of vocabulary words from the novel and their definitions and character charts that reflect the major characters from the novel.
