The student will create a drawing using similar techniques of an artist of their choice from the impressionism, post-impressionism, or cubism time period. While researching the artist the student must acknowledge how the artist’s culture influenced their work. The drawing must involve something that represents the student's culture. During critique each student must use proper vocabulary and present their work while discussing the artist they chose.

Students will use more than one color in drawing to show depth . Students will have a critique within their group that will allow for revision.

A series of learning activities leading to the skills for designing the floor plan of a house. The assignment begins with drawing your family house floorplan, to modeling that on the computer, to sketching a desired dream house floorplan to modeling it on the computer. Computer programs include but are not limited to MSW Logo and Floorplanner.com.

The Task: Each pair or small group of students will build 3 paper airplanes using only the materials listed below. One paper airplane should be designed to fly as far as possible (farthest distance). Build the other paper airplane to stay in the air as long as possible (longest hang time).

Art & Design students should be able to successfully critique their own artwork and that of others using terminology that is understandable and relevant to students in the field of art, photography, and design. Choose a creative work (your own or another's). Write a critique using the 4 elements discussed in class. These elements don't necessarily need to be in separate headings, but must be present. Length: at least 300 words.

Journal entries MUST be complete and organized. If you are absent, write the word "absent" across the page for the date you missed. You will need to make-up that entry with a partner on your own time. If your journal is missing/late 2 pts. (see scoring) will be deducted for each missing day. No exceptions. You will still need to complete your journal on a sheet of paper and staple it into journal. If you lose your journal, you are responsible for replacing it.
