7th Grade-Investigating Characterization Rubric

Student will investigate a Spanish speaking country of their choice Students will research in order to be able to answer present information about their country’s resources, culture, government, religion, geography, political atmosphere, social events, recreational pastimes, history, economics, etc. They will present the country in front of the class and also a report about their country in either written or digital format.

Students create their own society based upon the Utopian concepts of "The Giver" and "City of Ember". A utopian society is supposed to be a society that is "perfect." Your goal is to create a community as close to "perfect" as possible.

This rubric will be used to determine the score of an essay based on the following requirements: - A strong theme statement with supporting evidence. - Three very well-supported body paragraphs to support the theme statement - Direct quotes within the body paragraphs - Correct MLA and Standard English formatting

Essay Questions

Compare and contrast the book to the movie version. Write at least a 4 paragraph essay discussing the similarities and differences in the book and movie. Be sure to not only discuss the surface things but also the theme and characters actions.
