In Adobe Illustrator, develop & design an event poster based on one of the vintage travel poster examples given. Assume a print size of letter (8.5"x11".) This is to be a 4 color process (CMYK) job. The vector art should be similar to the original vintage poster that the student has chosen, yet be creative and original. All headline and body copy from the original design must be used, but students should take the opportunity to rearrange their placement and change colors/fonts and other typographical elements in order to take better advantage of design principles. Students must save the design in the correct file format and place in a new InDesign document, then properly package the document for print production.

Students were asked to draw a self portrait, using the pen tool in Adobe Illustrator based on an image of themselves. Students were required to vectorize their images using image trace, 16 colors changing the palette to automatic, 100 colors. Students were then required to expand the image, ungroup it, then delete the background. Students then use the pen tool to draw/trace every part of themselves.

Assess the students ability to use the Pen Tool in Adobe Illustrator, with ease and control, to create smooth curves and flowing linear paths.

Assignment: Create an advertisement that includes the following: -An imaginative product -A picture of the product -The original price of the product -3 reasons why this product should be bought -A discount off the product -Give the new price with the discount

Photoshop skills assessment

Students will be asked to identify all the elements of art and principles of design and/or demonstrate examples. In this assessment students will work on demonstrating the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design by drawing them on a handout.

Students will complete an infographic based upon personal research

Students must write an email as if they are the customer service representative of a corporation answering a complaint from a customer.

Students will sent an email to the instructor to introduce himself. This is a professional communication activity.

Students create a digital portfolio of all their work from the course using weebly.com. Students are responsible for keeping this portfolio up to date throughout the course. This portfolio will count as their final project grade.

Create a magazine layout for the same product directed at the following target groups: Youth, Family, Professionals

Develop a magazine article on a topic of your choice. Write at least a 1 page article using proper grammar, punctuation and spelling. Once you have written the article, then using Photoshop and Illustrator, format the text and add graphics to create a pleasing 2 page (18x12") spread for a magazine. Students will tell the story of their topic both visually and with the written word.

Project/assignment follows the directive of this rubric.

Discuss what it means to be a hero. As a link to Greek and Roman Gods and heros, students will write about a person they consider to be heroic in their life. They will then turn that person into a Super-hero. Using knowledge of correct proportion and the Greek and Roman "ideal" human form, students will draw/create their superhero in action. Develop a background and sound composition that helps explain the characters superpowers and heroic qualities.

Create an online personal portfolio that includes examples of all of the work you completed while at Dubiski Career HS. The site should include how your skills have grown through the years. Be creative and unique by using customized backgrounds. Incorporate graphics, videos, and maybe even animation into your site. Follow all prescribed rules and regulations concerning copyright infringement and inappropriate content.

Summation and Presentation of Completed Senior Portfolio This rubric is used to assess the final portfolio when it is turned in and presented. This final assessment is out of 100 points; 25 for total portfolio; 25 for instructor only (turn-in and peer review); and 50 for presentation.
