Students must use class time and the materials provided, to build a log cabin resembling those from pioneer times. They have previously completed a worksheet based on the pioneer home building.

Opinion Paragraph on one topic, include a topic sentence a sentence showing the students opinion, 3 reasons to support it, 3 different linking words, and a conclusion sentence that restates the opinion.

Our class has been learning about different types of communities. Our project now, is to create a 3D project showcasing a community. The students will be given a challenge to overcome when designing their community. Ex: natural disaster, lack of water, transportation. The students will be given very basic instructions and can take responsibility for their own community as long as they meet the basic criteria and overcome the challenge.

Truss bridge to be made out of plastic straws and tape. Width must be a minimum of ten centimeters. The bridge must span distance of 30 centimeters. The bridge must be able withstand a minimum of 4 chapter books without failing or sagging more than one centimeter.
