Mid Term Practical exam

This rubric is used for to assess the 2 page double spaced research paper on a topic assigned by Chef on a day you were absent from class.

Active participation/attendance is expected of all Students. This chart shows the level of participation & attendance grade for the weeks of 1/14 - 2/8, 2013 - 4 weeks.

Students need to have journal entries for past health classes. In a notebook with journal questions and responses to the question. Requirements: Have a journal notebook Have journal entry questions and responses (student can (look online pacsweb for questions) in correct order All stray papers must be stapled into journal notebook

Students will create at least a 20 word crossword puzzle about the assigned Culinary Essentials chapter. The puzzle must be the student's original work and should include key vocabulary, skills and techniques discussed in the chapter.

Students will formulate 10 to 15 interview questions specific to an assigned Culinary Essentials Chapter. The student will sit down with and interview two fellow students on the chapter topic. After the interview, the student will write 2-3 sentences about each response to the questions.

Students research careers, colleges, conduct personal interviews, and complete a job shadowing assignment. Students create a resume, cover letter, application, participate in mock job interviews, a post-interview Thank You note,and a personal plan for reaching their career goal. Total Possible Points: 100

Students will research, plan, and compose a speech in which their performance will be evaluated in terms of specific standards set in class, including the clarity and completeness of your speech and the quality of your presentation in explaining your topic matter. Non-verbal communication is highlighted. Students will have 3 to 4 minutes to deliver the speech.

Read the food related article. Write a summary of the article, using the proper heading, proper grammar and punctuation, etc. in paragraph form. Include important points from the article and the main idea in the summary.

Create a newspaper article that might be found in the following sections of the newspaper; Medical News, Healthy Living, Business, Television, Movies, Food, or Travel sections.

This will assist students to prepare for a television production creating a script, storyboard and equipment preparation.

Students will have knowledge of how to read and follow the instructions of a recipe, cooking vocabulary, use the correct tools for measuring ingredients, work cooperatively with others and complete a finished dish

Rubric for rating student's purposeful use of class time, including initiating work, remaining on-task, completing assignments, balancing social interactions and purposeful work in class.

Students will write daily class notes in their spiral notebook either during class or after class. Notebooks will be assessed periodically.

This rubric is designed to assess the presentation of the group activity. The rubric should consider the performance of the group as a whole, as well as individual contributions.
