Write a persuasive argument using one of the given prompts. The persuasive essay must contain at least 3 fully developed supporting paragraphs. The paper must include proper sources and MLA citations.

Students are to shop in a store in which sales staff interact with customers and observe shoppers of different ethnic groups, races, social classes, or appearance are waited upon to determine if members of different groups experience prejudice or discrimination. They will analyze observations, quantify data to create objective scores of observations, interpret data to draw conclusions regarding whether or not discrimination or prejudice was evident at this location. Students must then utilize sociological theories and concepts to explain the likely reasons for the presence or absence of prejudice and discrimination in their observational location.

Create the following assignment within your small group communities: You will have multiple class periods to work on the assignment but you will also have to assign responsibilities to individuals to complete outside of class in order to complete the assignment successfully. Each group will receive a group grade as well as an individual grade. Your assignment is to analyze a language in the local area. You will write this in the form of an individual research paper which will be linked to the papers of your colleagues. You will then integrate the pieces and present it to the class as a lesson. After selecting the language, the group will decide which element of the laguage each person will analyze (i.e., phon., morph., syntax, cultural elements). You should hand in the plan of the group, significant contributions and who made them, a personal log of your own daily contributions to the group, and your individual research paper & lesson plan.

Students will play the part of a manager who is sending out a company memo to introduce them to the organization. The memo should be well-formatted and organized, free of grammatical and spelling errors, and customized to a corporate audience.
