Book Talk Rubric -Independent Reading Favorite Book Students will write and orally present a book talk on one of their favorite independent reading books. Students will persuade other students, by clearly and concisely piquing the interest of peers in a solid hook and focused and interesting summary that closes with a definite opinion with support for reading and enjoying the book. Colorful language and confident speaking will enhance your persuasion.

Students will create a propaganda poster. You must include on the back of the poster a paragraph describing your poster and the propaganda being used.

Students will use "everydaymaterials" and recycle them to create a sculpture.

The students will create a poster on a Human Right. The poster should include a definition of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and images that show the Right.

Task: Students will wirte an autobiography informing others about themselves.

General Math Rubric: Communication

Students will create a magazine advertisement using persuasive details and emotional appeals; complete with logo and word choice. Advertisement should be for a product not normally advertised to teens. Choose HOW you want to market it and WHO you want to sell it to. Decide how best you can persuade those buyers to purchase your product.

Students will read a passage and write the supporting details and the main idea.

Students use techniques of Pointillism to create art work of their choice.

Students write a biography on chosen figure from Canada's Confederation.

Students frame a picture, then use line and colour pattern to bring out colours in original.

String Prints -students use a picture from a calendar and recreate it using string as an examination of texture as one of the Elements of Design.

Groups will present information on their party in a creative way. You must include information regarding your party's beliefs, role in Confederation, creation, main leader, and main leader's role in Confederation. All group members must be equally involved in the presentation. A group fact sheet will accompany the presentation.

Create a game for the entire class with the equipment provided.

Students will research, plan, and compose a speech in which their performance will be evaluated in terms of specific standards set in class, including the clarity and completeness of your speech and the quality of your presentation in explaining your topic matter. Non-verbal communication is highlighted. Students will have 3 to 4 minutes to deliver the speech.

Students read article and identify bias within, supporting with relevant details.
