Composition Assignment

Using the song Jingle Bells come up with a new four measure accompaniment using 3 instruments of your choice. One of these instruments must be a keyboard instrument of some kind. Make sure you include dynamics, different rhythms (quarter notes, eighth notes, sixteenth notes, and tripolets). With using the keyboard you must use any of the notes in the pentatonic scale.

Sonata Composition & Performance

Students compose in the sonata form. Exposition includes 2 themes, 8 measures each. Theme 1 uses diatonic scale (CDEFGABC), begins and ends on C. Theme 2 uses diatonic scale again, but starts and stops on G and all F's are sharp (write in Key of G). Development uses C scale, 16 measures long, starts and stops on C, and uses measures from themes 1 & 2. Recapitulation restates theme 1 and transposes theme 2 into the key of C.
