Research the approved topic. Submit one 2-3 page typed paper, double spaced, 12 point font following MLA guidelines. Include a bibliography citing at least 3 resources used researching the paper. Paper will be graded on quality of research to support the topic, effective use of information gained through research, credibility of sources, content, grammar and mechanics, and bibliography.

Students will work in groups with others who read the same novel. Students will select an important scene to perform before the class. The performance will be worth 60 points; a paper explaining the importance of the scene and placing it in context within the novel will be worth 40 points.

To demonstrate knowledge of a saint based upon the summer reading assignment, students will work with others who read the same book to answer questions which will be posed by a moderator in a class panel discussion called Meet the Saints. In the panel discussions, students will portray their saints and answer questions which reveal their knowledge of the saint. At the panel the student may have one notecard for each question. There can be notes in bullet form but not sentences.

Student will read a biography of a saint and create a decorated time line of the major events in the life of the saint. Student will give an oral presentation using the time line to explain why this saint is in Heaven's Hall of Fame.
