Biology 1 Biomolecules Candy Model and Research
The students will design a biomolecule of their choice. Their research will contain examples of three biomolecules: carbohydrates, proteins and lipids. The presentation/research will contain illustrations that demonstrate the chemical structure of each biomolecule and may feature an illustration that represents its function in a living system. It will reference a specific biomolecule and its significant function in a living system. Students may choose a nucleic acid if they desire.

Scale Model of Earth's Layers
Team will create a model of the earth's layers that are accurately proportionate and use materials that creatively depict the properties of the layers. You will be part of a PR team and your task is to create a visually appealing product on the interior earth to the 3rd graders at Hebron Valley

Lifecycle of a Star
You will be exploring the life cycle of a star by writing down the various phases of a star's life on one side of a star cut-out, and creating a comic or story on the other side about the day in the life of a certain phase of that star, i.e. "a day in the life of a white dwarf". Be sure to use your research to present the most accurate information and include detail in describing the life of a star. For the story or comic, be creative and have fun with it! Use the rubric to guide you for this project.

Newton's Laws of Motion Storybook
Student creates a digital storybook describing Newton's Three Laws of Motion. The book must include: the 3 laws, a description of the law, a diagram representing the law, and an explanation of how their diagram represents that law of motion.

Students will invent their own board game on the concepts of nomenclature, balancing equations, and/or writing chemical formulas. This project will be due on February 21st, 2013.

This is the PITS (Project Integrated with Tech & Science)!
Students will design a slideshow presentation using Microsoft PowerPoint that demonstrates and explains the multi-phase process of Mitosis or Meiosis. All presentations need a title slide and credits slide. Every phase, including the original cell and final result, must have an image representation. Mitosis: minimum 8 slides with 6 pictures Meiosis: minimum 12 slides with 10 pictures
