Students Respond based on texts and/or multi-media presentations presented in class. These responses will include but are not limited to exemplars related to the texts that support the reading/writing connection. Context is relevant.

Written communication involves learning to work in many genres and styles. It can involve working with many different writing technologies, and mixing texts, data, and images. Written communication abilities develop through iterative experiences across the curriculum. This writing rubric is designed for use in a wide variety of educational institutions. The central question guiding the rubric is "How well does writing respond to the needs of audience(s) for the work?" In focusing on this question the rubric does not attend to other aspects of writing that are equally important: issues of writing process, writing strategies, writers' fluency with different modes of textual production or publication, or writer's growing engagement with writing and disciplinarity through the process of writing. Students are required to answer comprehension questions during/after class readings. Answers must be written in complete sentences.

Students will know homework expectations which would include completeness, accuracy, requirements, legibility and time management.

Use this rubric for grading student papers. Can be customized for any subject.

Write an informational essay about the importance of choosing to remain drug-free.

The purpose of this rubric is to assess students' responses to reading in their reader's response journal. The response will be used to assess the reader's ability to identify the writer's ability to accurately identify the theme in the text and communicate it to the audience.
