Blog

Aloha! Continuing with the Island theme, I would like to invite you to peruse my Study Island Blog!  Previously, I had only used my blog for professional purposes, but I was able to incorporate the blog postings for this class as well.  As we created blog postings for this class, I realized that when I dug a little deeper for content, I felt extremely excited about my posts, which had not occurred previous to this class.  The idea of using blogs with students for the purpose of self-reflection, journaling, to extend classroom discussion and to encourage students to dialogue with one another is very powerful. The fact that there are so many free sites that will allow students and teachers to set up blogs, makes it an even more attractive tool to use in the classroom.  I think the idea of being able to post an idea, comment or question at any time, day or night, lends itself to extending learning beyond the school day.  I think that blogging not only can give students a voice, but a forum to express themselves as well.
