Wiki

The Blogging and Podcasting Wiki was a very fun, collaborative project for me.  Not only did I learn a lot while researching information to build the Wiki, but my partners for this assignment were terrific!

Blogging and Podcasting are two areas that had quite a presence on the web.  Rubrics, lesson ideas, students examples, teacher examples...there was so much to sift through, to look at and listen to, that it was almost overwhelming.  I think this is what made the content of our Wiki quite rich though.  The availability of resources that are posted online made bringing best practices much easier than it may have been with some newer, less popular tools.  Clearly, there are many schools and districts that do not have any teachers using blogs with students, but there are many that are-which was quite evident once I started researching the two topics.

Finally, I was able to experience for myself how the use of a Wiki as a form of authentic assessment and learning tool could be very powerful.  There was a process involved in the creation of the Wiki and the collaborative nature of Wikis made it very easy to work as a group.
