Webquest

Below you are going to see my webquest.  This assignment was extremely user-friendly to participate in, and I could see as a teacher, how it would take minimal preparation to get up and running for students.

I think that if I were to do a webquest with students, an example of what one looks like, may be really helpful. I wasn't quite sure what a webquest was, so I was grateful to have an example on our class Wiki page of the content, format, and just general information regarding webquests.

As a teacher, I could see using this with students as a review before a test, as a tool for gathering information before writing a research paper, just a way to get students used to sifting through sources on the Internet.

Enjoy!

You are part of a team of teachers who are starting a charter school. Your charter status has been approved, but now it is time to start diving into the nitty-gritty logistics of curriculum and assessment in your school. Some general information has already been established about assessment within your school, such as the fact that your students will participate in the state assessment mandated by the Department of Public Instruction. Your team, however, wants to investigate other forms of assessment, to ensure that your students, parents and teachers are getting the most timely and useful information about student performance.

Task:

It is June, and your team needs to submit a written proposal regarding assessment to the school’s Learning Team by August 1.

Once you have gathered all of your information on assessments, you are going to put together a document which will serve as a proposal for your school’s Learning Team. This proposal will focus on your team’s recommendations for the types of assessments that will complement the mandated state assessment.

The current state assessment for Wisconsin, the WKCE-CRT, is a criterion-referenced test. What does it mean if an assessment is criterion-referenced? What are the advantages and disadvantages of this assessment?

Before submitting your proposal to the Learning Team, please reflect on the following questions:

Did our team do a thorough evaluation of all different types of assessment, utilizing diverse sources and references?

Did we listen to each other’s ideas and recommendations before coming to a final conclusion?
