English 101 Portfolio
College 105 is a course designed to make the transition from high school to college much easier for college freshmen. By requiring College 105 students to attend six campus-sponsored activities, students gain an understanding of the campus and college life. Two of the activities that I attended in College 105 are the NBCI Diversity workshop and the Plagiarism Workshop.
The Plagiarism Workshop was the first campus activity I attended at Tri-County. This activity was extremely beneficial to me because plagiarizing any type of work could get me kicked out of college. After hearing this, I knew I would be attending this workshop. In all honesty, the Plagiarism Workshop was boring. I almost felt like I was sitting through another English 101 class. During the workshop, we worked with paraphrasing and summarizing material so it would not be plagiarized. I had no idea this would benefit me so much until I got to my next English 101 class, and we talked about paraphrasing and summarizing. I had a head start on everyone because I already knew the material. I guess sometimes the most boring things are the ones that can benefit you the most. This is certainly true when I think back to the Plagiarism Workshop.
