Q-HEALTH

Protesting is Good for You!
Did you know?  In a 2002 study, psychologists at the University of Sussex found that participating in collective social actions, such as protests and demonstrations, led to positive feelings of unity, empowerment, and joy.  These positive emotions, along with overcoming feelings of helplessness, have been shown to improve mental health and well-being and decrease feelings of anxiety and depression.  So get active and get involved with a cause you believe in-- you'll be doing some good not only for others, but for your own health and happiness!

SDSU Counseling and Psychological Services  provides drop-in consultation once per week in the LGBT Resource Room.  This semester, a psychological intern will be in the LGBTRC on Tuesdays from 1-2pm.  He will act as a supportive listening ear and a provider of appropriate referrals to on-campus counselors and/or LGBT resources out in the San Diego community.  Stop by to say hello!

About the Counselor:

Hello!  My name is Nate, and I’m a Master’s level intern working toward a doctorate in Psychology.  My interests within the field include couples issues, social activism, and holistic approaches to health and healing.  I hope one day to work as both a therapist in private practice and as a professor, as well as an enthusiastic ally to the LGBT community.  I look forward to meeting you!
