Thank you for coming to the website I have created for my drama students this year. This is a resource that can be very helpful in keeping track of all the exciting and challenging things we will be doing in drama this year. I thank you so much for your interest in drama.

  My name is Jerry Basham and I am currently a student teacher at Fowler Middle School and Tigard High School in the field of drama. I've spent most of my life working in the world of live theatre; as well as in film and television. Over the years I have tutored many private students, taught in the Hawaii public schools, worked as an artist in residence at Central Washington University, to name just a few of my experiences in the field.

  I'm very pleased to be working with the fine students in the drama department this year.

  The word drama comes from the Greek word 'drago' which means to struggle. And that is what we will be doing in drama class. We practice the art of the ensemble, each student will be called upon to try their best and to encourage each other. Each student will be expected to respect themselves and everyone else in our acting troupe. It is important that we allow everyone to feel safe to stretch their artistic and creative muscles in our class and to be supportive of each other in their efforts. Students must be made to feel safe to do this.
