Rules for Advanced and Beginning Drama

You are expected to arrive on time.

Students who are not in class by the end of roll call will be marked absent for the entire period. This will show up on your progress report later.

You are expected to arrive prepared.

DO NOT EAT OR CHEW GUM IN THIS CLASS. Students eating in class will receive an isolated lunch.

 Wear appropriate clothes for drama, which is an active class. Do not wear short skirts or high heels unless you bring a change of clothes for class. If you need to change, you must do it before you arrive for class.

If we are blocking or rehearsing, bring your script and a writing instrument. Studentswho show up without their script and a pen or pencil will receive a technical absence.This will show up on your progress report later.

 You are expected to pay attention and follow instructions during class.

Unless we are rehearsing or blocking and you have been given permission to do alternative activities (reading or studying) your full attention should be on the class. You should be able to watch other students work without creating a distraction.

 Everyone participates in class exercises unless you have a health consideration that restricts physical activity. Your progress report will reflect your ability to participate on a regular basis.

  You are expected to do your part in cooperative projects.

That means completing memorization on schedule, attending ALL performances of your play and coming early enough to help set up. It also means helping clean up after class and after performances. This also means having a positive attitude toward the work and your fellow students

  You are expected to do your best work.Because no one wants to watch an actor who doesn’t care about what they’re doing.

  You are expected to let the instructor know if you are having problems or cannot fulfill an assignment.

EXCEPT IN THE CASE OF ILLNESS OR FAMLIY EMERGENCY, STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO PARTICIPATE IN ALL PERFORMANCES OF THEIR PLAY.
