DRAMA

To: All New and Returning Students.

Welcome to DRAMA or welcome back to Drama! You have chosen to learn about an amazing art form! Theatre allows us to enter into worlds we may have never known. We learn about people who are different from ourselves. And we learn about all the different parts within ourselves. Through working with each other and exploring our differences, we build trust in creative instincts and understand compassion.

When you step into this class you become part of an ensemble. You are all equal members in the “Acting Troupe” that is the class. Being part of an ensemble demands that you honor and respect the work of everyone in the class. It is important that we have a safe and supportive environment to allow members of the ensemble to take creative risks. Everybody brings their own unique experiences and gifts to the task and that is what makes our work interesting. Sometimes you will not feel like doing something that is asked. Remember that the word drama comes from the Greek ‘drao’ meaning I do/I struggle. That is what I ask of you.
