Durability/Construction	Exemplary The cake was a 3-dimensional sculpture using sculpture techniques to express an authentic looking dessert.	Proficient Most of the cake is sturdy, but when displaying it, there are a couple of pieces that might need extra care.	Developing The cake dessert is flimsy and falls apart easily. It may not last for display.
Creativity	Exemplary Totally original design and elements. Cake successfully uses symmetry, balance, pattern and unity. Color, composition, and decorative details enhance the design.	Proficient Most of the cake elements are unique, however, a few may have been copied. The cake has some resemblance to an authentic dessert.	Developing The cake has few or no unique elements. The cake does not resemble an authentic looking dessert.
Structure	Exemplary Students successfully employed 3 or more features on their cake to represent the 3-dimensional quality.	Proficient Students used 1-2 layers on their cake and most seem to represent a cake dessert.	Developing Students used no layers or 3-d quality on their cake.
Craftsmanship	Exemplary Great care and time were given in the design of the cake dessert. The elements and principles of art are clearly evident. The cake is aesthetically appealing and shows no flaws.	Proficient The cake design was well thought out and planned using the elements and principles of art. There are a few flaws marks, and added materials, but these do not detract from the overall look.	Developing The cake looks thrown together at the last minute. It appears that little design or planning was done.
Cooperation	Exemplary Students are always willing to complete assigned tasks and help set up and clean up projects. Students collaborated and always used studio time and clean up time well.	Proficient Students are sometimes willing to complete assigned tasks and help set up and clean up projects. Students collaborated and were in seats when class starts and uses studio time appropriately.	Developing Students did not show a willingness to complete assigned tasks and collaborate to help set up and clean up projects. Students were often not in their seat when class starts and/ or rushes to finish.
