Proportions/sizes

Excellent

Student kept all objects in proportions both length and width. The sizes between the objects are appropriate sizes because student used viewfinder or sighting techniques. All elipses are correctly drawn based on how close or far the student is to the object.
Good

Students kept most of the objects in proportions both length and width. The sizes between the objects are pretty appropriately sized due to viewfinder or sighting techniques. Elipses are drawing pretty correctly some of them are a little off.
Fair

Students have quite a few proportions off. Sizes both width and length are a little misdrawn. Elipses are slightly angles and not drawn very accurately. Student didn’t utilize the viewfinder or sighting techniques very well.
Poor

Students have sizes extremely off. The lengths and widths are inaccurate to the still life. Elipses are very rounded and not drawn correctly based on the students’ views. Student didn’t use viewfinder or sighting techniques much.
Value

Excellent

Student matched values for each hue. The artist has a very large range of values in their pice. Correctly placed and matched values within shadows. Used eraser tools to grab highlights and glares and shaded in value throughout almost the entire piece. Student has a nice smooth texture and used the blending tool or their finger to blend.
Good

Student matched almost all the values and has a semi-wide range of values in their piece. Some of the values are a little off either too dark or too light. Texture is pretty smooth, but pencil marks are still visible when the artist was shading.
Fair

Student has a limited range of values and has quite a few values shaded in, incorrectly. Texture looks rushed and pencil marks when shading are still pretty visible. Some things may still look outlined.
Poor

Student has a very limited range of values and isn’t correctly shading the values seen in their cylinders. Student rushed through this process and has very rough-scratchy texture because of shading. Too many items look outlined.
Texture

Excellent

Student did a great job capturing textures of multiple items within their piece. Not everything looks as if it is made from the same material.
Good

Student did a pretty good job with capturing textures of their items. Many of the pieces differ, but could benefit from a bit more texture.
Fair

Too many of the items look as if they were made from the same material, but are not. The student needed to pay more attention to the outer surfaces.
Poor

The student did not develop texture.
Composition

Excellent

Student took a creative approach when designing their composition and used some cropping techniques. Student used all or most of the paper. The negative space is limited and the student created layering with their pieces. The pieces definitely tell a story about the artist. Lighting was done very well.
Good

The student setup their own still life and did a pretty good job creating layers and having limited space, but it wasn’t very creative and seemed a bit straight forward. Lighting, could have been a minor issue. Items were unique to student and varied in size and shape.
Fair

Student could have cropped items way too much. Student may have drew a little too small and didn’t use much of their paper. The artist didn’t create layers and had too much negative space. Items were all the same size and shape and seemed somewhat generic and not unique to student. Lighting could have been a bit more delegated.
Poor

Items are hard to identify due to cropping or drawing too small. Too much negative space was prevalent. Student did not create layer and a creative composition with items. Lighting was not a factor.
Craftsmanship

Excellent

Paper was taken care of very well. There are no rips, folds, or tears. Pencil marks and smudges are not visible. Student turned piece in on time and utilized class time or after class time well. The piece looks finished and complete without any errors or accidents.
Good

Paper was taken care of pretty well. There are very minor damages. There are very few marks and smudges still visible. STudent could have benefited from a little more time or turned in project late. Some errors are visible. Piece looks finished.
Fair

Paper wasn’t take care of pretty well. There are a decent amount of damages to it. There are pencil marks and smudges throughout the piece. Piece has an unfinished look. Student didn’t utilize class time that well or had time management issues.
Poor

Paper or art has too many damages. Piece seems rushed or unfinished. STudent had poor time management.
