Formal Assessment Lesson 1-3
• After reading the passage, students will analyze the short story to identify the elements of a short story learned in Lesson 1 (plot, theme, and climax), Make inferences using guided questions to help explain the message the author is trying to convey, as learned in Lesson 2. And lastly identify and interpret metaphors and similes, explaining how these figurative language devices enhance meaning and contribute to the overall effect of the writing as learned in Lesson 3.
