As students in the Riverside Community College Dental Hygiene program we are encouraged to participate in community events. Thus far in the program, I have had the opportunity to participate in a couple different events. I was fortunate to attend Halloween Valley. Halloween Valley is an event dedicated for children. Our job as students in this event was to help the children while playing games. It was also our job to help the parents understand what the dental hygiene program is about. Our goal was to help the community know that there is affordable and good dental services available in their area.

    I have also been able to participate in an event called give kids a smile. This is an event where children that need dental work and can not afford it come for a day of free dental work. I really enjoyed this opportunity to serve the children and to work hard and feel good about it at the end of the day. Many children benefited on this day and the smiles that we were able to see made the whole day worthwhile.
