About Us

Implications of the Name:
Wisdom is defined in the Webster's 1828 dictionary as the true religion; Godliness, piety; the knowledge and fear of God, sincere and uniform  obedience to his commands.  If you want to acquire it, it is the knowledge and use of what is best, most just, most proper, most conducive to prosperity or happiness.

The Book of Proverbs in scripture is designed to impart wisdom by comparing spiritual things with those things spiritual.   The Key word throughout Proverbs is wisdom.

Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.  1 Cor 2:13.
Wisdom is characterized in Proverbs 31 through the finest qualities of womanhood.  The Book of Proverbs praises the supreme value of an excellent wife by alluding to her as wisdom itself, a priceless gem.
Who can find a virtuous woman?  For her price is far above rubies: (Proverbs 31:10; cp. Prov. 3:15, 8:3).
Through the word (scripture), a flesh and blood picture of true excellence is given by describing the ideal wife.

The Circle
In the closeness of a circle, we strive to create an environment of friendship, of spiritual, emotional and intellectual support, and common ground as women.  The 'circle' represents a number of deeply rooted metaphoric associations in the mind of the woman such as the cycles of life, changes of the season, regeneration, and the cycles of our womb.

Our model for self discovery and spiritual growth is the Proverbs 31 Woman.  The Book of Proverbs praises the supreme value of an excellent wife by alluding to her as wisdom itself, a priceless gem.  ?Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies: (Proverbs 31:10; Proverbs 3:15, 8:3).  God gave a flesh and blood picture of true excellence and did so by describing the ideal wife.

The virtuous woman is a woman of strength; she is made strong by wisdom and grace and the fear of God.  To know wisdom indicates the ability to draw judgment in moral and spiritual matters and to discern spiritual issues.

The Women of the Wisdom Circle want to look at the woman described in Proverbs 31 to observe and study her character (e.g. her quality, pattern of behavior, moral strength and self discipline; her distinguishing traits) and to develop these character qualities in our own daily lives.
