University of Michigan - Guideline for creating bookclubs for students
CAPI Student Book Clubs - This is a collection of bookclubs that include Science Fiction, Chicken Soup Books and The Great Gatsby.
Harvey Daniel - provides many pointers for establishing bookclubs for students
Middle School Journal - This Journal includes articles by teachers "on creating literate young adolescents."
Book Club Offers.com - Purchase books about Dr. Seuss, Disney and other popular genres, plus scholastic titles
Little Wonders Book Club - This is another source for purchasing books for children
Hedgehog Books - Vanya Jackowski leads this site that was created by teachers who promote reading aloud to children.
Appleton Public Library - This link goes directly to the "What's Happening" page, but the entire site has a plethora of resources, including lesson plans, links for parents and teachers and many more interesting things.
Student Book Reviews - This site has is a wonderful where book reviews are seperated into age groups, but they are written by children around the country, and of course, there book recommendations.
FamilyFun.com - This site is hosted by Shelley Butler and Deb Kratz of the Field Guide to Parenting. They have listed the "Best Children's Books of 2005."
Children's Literature Web Guide - This site includes several varieties of children's books that are further divided by year.
About's Top Picks - About.com has included books for "Babies t Pre-teens" on their site. Their book recommendations range from Harry Potter, Children's Books about the Poltical Process Elections Voting to Knitting Books for Kits and Teens.

It is also very good to provide children with venues to contribute to society. It really helps them become well-rounded.
World Refugee Day - Celebrated 20 June and is organized by the United Nations.
Feeding Broward - This is an annual food drive where individuals and corporations collect and donate food for needy families in the county.
Waterway Cleanup - This is an annual South Florida function in which many community organizations and individuals participate.
Christmas in July 2006 - The Kiwanis International Club and Broward County conduct a "Donation Drive to help Broward County Homeless Children and Victims of Hurricane Katrina and Wilma."
Clothing Drive - This clothing drive is in Phoenix, but it can be used as a guide for starting one here, in Florida.
