Very frequent grammar and/or spelling errors. My report does not follow the format discussed in class. I made no effort to include pictures and/or diagrams. My report is missing many parts.
Approaching Expectations
I have some spelling and/or grammar errors. I am missing 1 or 2 parts to my report. I am missing many headings. I only have 1 or 2 pictures.
Meets Expectations
I have only 1 or 2 spelling and/or grammar errors. My report includes all the parts and follows the correct format. I have some pictures and/or diagrams to enhance the report. I may have 1 heading missing.
Exceeds Expectations
I made an effort to revise and proofread so my report does not have any spelling or grammar mistakes. I wanted to include something extra in my report beyond what we had to include. My report is not missing anything.
Note Taking/Research
Not yet meeting
I did not make an effort to find books. I made little effort to find information and write the notes. I wasted a lot of time by being unfocused and not on task.
Approaching Expectations
I made an effort to find books and locate information on my own. I may have needed help with reading and writing some notes but I tried to do it myself. I was on task and made good use of the time to do this work.
Meets Expectations
I actively looked for books about my topic. I made an effort to find information and to take good notes. I may have needed some help to locate and read some of the information in the books. I was focused and on task making good use of the time.
Exceeds Expectations
I was able to independently find books, locate and read the information and to write notes. I included extra notes about videos I may have watched and other information on the computer that as I came across it. I helped others to overcome a problem.
Sub Topics/Information
Not yet meeting
My report is missing more than 2 sub topics. I wrote the bare minimum - maybe just one sentence for each one. Some of my information is incorrect. I did not include any pictures. I found it very challenging turning my notes into sentences strung together to make a paragraph. I do not have topic sentences.
Approaching Expectations
The information I have for each sub topic is very short and simple. I was not interested in thinking about and adding details to make my paragraphs longer. I needed some help organizing my notes into sentences and paragraphs. Only 1 or 2 of my sub topics have pictures to match. I am missing some topic sentences.
Meets Expectations
The information I wrote is not too short, but not full of details either. I was able to use my notes to write sentences of different lengths for interesting paragraphs. I thought about using connecting words rather than short, choppy sentences and lists. Most of my paragraphs have topic sentences.
Exceeds Expectations
My sub topics have lots of information - when information was sparse, I went out of my way to find many details to lengthen my paragraphs. I have topic sentences for all of my paragraphs. I was able to work completely independently. People reading my report will say, "Wow"! or learn something new.
