Chapter Outline 
Each chapter assigned must be set up in outline form. The primary purpose of the outline is to help students study and review material that will be covered in their upcoming test.

There is no discernible order. The order of themes and concepts is unclear.

The outline is modest. For the most part each section is labeled. There are still awkward transition areas. Certain sections are left blank.

The organization is clear and coherent. Each section has an order and a purpose.
Concepts

Poor

There is little to no mention of important concepts learned in class and in the text. Concepts that are included are poorly defined and ambiguous.
Fair

There is a fair amount of concepts. Most of them are defined, but are conceptually ambiguous. There are few errors in the definitions themselves.
Excellent

Concepts are clearly stated. They are well-defined and are tired back to an applicable example.
Thoroughness/Effort

Poor

The outline looks thrown together at the last minute – i.e.. not complete; handwritten; done in-class on day it was due).
Fair

Generally thorough, however a few areas are missing. A few sections of the text chapter were skipped over/completely missing.
Excellent

Highly thorough, each section is completed. Highly detailed outline that ties organization and concepts found in lthe chapter quite thoroughly.
Time Management

If observed and applicable.

Student was often off task.

Student managed time well and completed the task marginally.
