The entire page is filled.	Poor The page has a large portion of white left unpainted.	Fair A small amount of white is left on the page.	Good There is little or no white left on the page.	Excellent The entire page is filled beautifully with no white spots left unless they were added later with white paint.
The effort put into the painting	Poor The student did not even attempt to do his or her best work.	Fair The student put in a minimal amount of work into their painting.	Good The student worked well on their painting but could have done a little bit more to finish it.	Excellent The student did his or her best work. The painting was of great quality for that student's ability.
Tint, Shading and Shapes	Poor The student does not understand complementary colour and has reflected this in his or her work.	Fair The student understands the term complementary, yet their work does not demonstrate a clear tint or shade and lacks this accuracy of technique.	Good The student understands the term complementary and has displayed this with the use of 2 colours and applying tints and shades to an acceptable standard.	Excellent The student understands the term complementary and has displayed this with the use of 2 colours and applying tints and shades exceptionally.
