Medieval Letters Art Skills Students are asked to produce their own art piece based on the ndebele wall paintings to create and shape arts works by combining arts elements to express personal ideas, feelings and experiences. Colours Produce letter using bright colours, on a white background	Level 1 Art work shows limited use of bright colours. Colouring is poorly done with little care.	Level 2 Art work shows at least 2 bright colours. There is some attempt at colouring the one way.	Level 3 Art work shows adequate (at least 3) use of bright colours and shows some variation of colours. Application of colour is neat.	Level 4 Art work shows bright colours (at least4+). Representation of colours is mostly clear. Application of colour is of a high quality.
Outlines Use of straight and/or curvy black outlines.	Level 1 There is little use of black outlines. Erasures are evident. Work shows smudges/marks. Little effort to present neatly.	Level 2 Limited attempts at straight or curvy black outlines. Limited effort to erase mistakes. Letter needs cleaning.	Level 3 Some lines are outlined in black. Some parts of the letter are neatly presented.	Level 4 Uses thick black outlines that are straight or curvy. Letter is clean and neatly presented.
Use Medieval Imagery Mythical/Medieval Figures, Flowers, Natural Elements	Level 1 Drawing shows no use of mythical/medieval figures, flowers, natural elements Design is poorly presented and shapes are not clearly recognizable. Little effort at neatness.	Level 2 Design shows one use of mythical/medieval figures, flowers, natural elements. Shapes need clarity and neatness is limited.	Level 3 Drawing shows 2 or more uses of mythical/medieval figures, flowers, natural elements. Some shapes are clearly and neatly drawn.	Level 4 Drawing shows 3 or more uses mythical/medieval figures, flowers, natural elements. Shapes are clear and neatly drawn.
