Formative Assessment Rubric
	Poor 1 pts	Fair 2 pts	Good 3 pts
Participation	Poor Students have not or rarely contribute to class discussion about theme or ideas pertaining to the lesson.	Fair Students occasionally contribute to class discussion about theme or ideas pertaining to the lesson justifying answers with evidence from the text with prompting.	Good Students frequently contribute to class discussion about theme or ideas pertaining to the lesson while justifying and elaborating upon answers through the use of text-based evidence or inferences.
Venn diagram	Poor Students have demonstrated little to no effort or participation in their small group as little has been recorded on their graphic organizer.	Fair Students have demonstrated reflection and participation within their small group as the Venn diagram indicates multiples themes represented in the three sections of the graphic organizer.	Good Students have demonstrated thoughtful reflection and participation within their small group as the Venn diagram indicates an abundance of themes represented in the three sections of the graphic organizer.
T-Chart	Poor Students developed a lack of understanding as indicated in the t-chart by providing little to no text-evidence/inferences to support reasoning of theme.	Fair Students developed an understanding as indicated in the t-chart through the use of text-based evidence/inferences to support reasoning of theme.	Good Students developed a thorough understanding as indicated through multiple uses of text-based evidence/inferences to support reasoning of theme.
